PROLOGUE:
"A Vow Made in Someone Else's Deathbed"
> "You were never meant to be mine." His voice slices through the silence like a dagger dipped in ice.
I don't respond. I stare out the night-blurred window, fingers clenching the red silk of my wedding dress.
It still smells like roses.
Fake.
Just like this marriage.
> "I didn't want this either," I whisper.
>Β "So don't act like you're the only one betrayed." His voice came in a dangerously calming way.
---
πΉ Years Before:
> "Please... promise me... if something ever happens to me, take care of my daughter. As your own."
Hae-won's breath was failing. Her hand shook as she held onto Yura's arm. Namjoon's mother wept, nodding.
> "I promise, she'll be ours."
No one expected that promise to turn into a curse.
---
βοΈ some year later on the wedding day:
> "Where the hell is Minjae?!""He's gone."
"Gone? What do you mean gone?! He was going to marry her!"
"No one knows why... he left this letter... and a ring."
Kim Minjae had vanished the day of his wedding.
Yn stood at the edge of the room, heart thudding, outside guests murmuring, and reporters snapping.
Humiliation.
Shock.
Silence.
> "We can't let this ruin our name," Kim Daehyun growled.
> "What about Namjoon?" someone whispered.
Eyes turned to the eldest son, standing with folded arms and an expression like stone.
> "This isn't his mess to fix," Eun-bi argued.
"But it's the only way," the grandmother said. "A promise must be kept. A name must be protected."
And just like that...
---
π The Same Night:
The ceremony happened in private.
No flowers.
No cake.
No smiles.
Just signatures. Just guilt.
And two souls bound in a marriage neither of them wanted.
---
π₯ Present Day:
> "You're just here because of a dying woman's wish," Namjoon mutters as he steps away from me.
"And you're just doing this to protect your empire isn't it mr.kim."
"Exactly. So don't expect anything more."
He turns and walks away.
But something in his eyes-
Pain?
Rage?
... or was that regret?
I don't know.
All I know is this:
I married a man who hates me.
And yet...
Something tells me he's the only one who can ever break me completely.
Or save me entirely.
